Apply for a temporary path closure

Applications must be received a minimum of 6 weeks prior to the date of required closure.

  • The cost of closures is £800, plus the cost of advertising the required notices in the local newspaper, which ranges from £500 to £2,500 depending on the size of the notice required. Applicants will be invoiced after the notices have been advertised.
  • Current notices can be seen on: Temporary footpath closures
  • Before you complete the form contact the Countryside Access Team to see whether a path closure is needed. This may require a site meeting.
  • Complete the application form at least 6 weeks in advance of required closure date.
  • Applicants are responsible for erection and maintenance of their own signage and barriers, which must be agreed with the Countryside Access Team before starting any work on site.
  • Alternative routes and diversions must be agreed with the Countryside Access Team before work starts on site.
  • Procedures are in accordance with the Code of Practice to the Co-ordination of Street Works for Road Purposes and Related Matters - November 1992.
