Coronavirus and waste collections update

Information on recycling and rubbish in relation to the coronavirus.

Kerbside bin collections

Collection times

Some collection crews will be starting their rounds earlier than usual during the current circumstances. Please therefore ensure that all recycling and black bags are placed out on the kerbside ready for collection by 6.00am on your collection day.

Black bags

Please be reminded that tissues, kitchen roll or toilet paper used to blow nose etc should be disposed of in your BLACK BAGS only. DO NOT place these items in your green bags as they cannot be recycled and could also expose recycling staff who sort materials to the pathogen.

Please also follow the government advice below on disposing of tissues if you are showing possible symptoms or self-isolating with others:

'Personal waste (such as used tissues) and disposable cleaning cloths can be stored securely within disposable rubbish bags. These bags should be placed into another bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste. This should be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put in your usual external household waste bin.'
