Rhydgoch cemetery

Rhydgoch cemetery is located south of Pontarddulais in a semi rural area. Burial records are available for the cemetery from 1907.

Coffin Burials can be arranged in New graves and in existing family graves (subject to depth). Services are available Monday to Saturday at 30 minute intervals.

Cremated remains can be buried in New bricked / earthen plots and also in existing family graves; cremated remains can also be scattered on existing family graves or in the central Garden of Remembrance.

Memorials can only be erected by a memorial mason affiliated with the British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons (BRAMM) scheme; Lawn and kerb set memorials can be erected on any grave (subject to regulations).

Opening times

There are no restrictions for pedestrian access; however, vehicles are allowed during the following hours:

  • Monday to Thursday  9.00am - 4.15pm 
  • Friday 9.00am - 3.45pm 
  • Weekends and Bank Holidays 10.00am - 4.00pm

Drivers must drive slowly and show due care to any pedestrians in the cemetery.

Dog walking

Dogs are allowed into the cemetery but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times; dog owners must show respect and consideration for other visitors by keeping to the paths and not walking on graves and remembrance gardens with their dogs; any mess must be picked up immediately and deposited in the bins provided. The cemetery supervisor may refuse access to the cemetery grounds if these conditions are not complied with.

Travelling to Rhydgoch Cemetery

Travelling by car - From the M4 leave at Junction 48 and turn right onto the A4138/ Iscoed Road towards Pontarddulais. At the mini roundabout (by Black Horse Inn) turn right onto the A48 towards Pontarddulais. Continue straight on down Water Street. Continue through the one way system and take the right hand lane towards Swansea and Pontarddulais Town Centre on Dulais Road. Follow the road to the left towards Gorseinon onto St Teilo Street. At the junction (King hotel) turn right onto the B4296/ Pentre Road toward Gorseinon. Continue down Pentre Road for approximately half a mile and the entrance to the cemetery is on the left hand side.

From Swansea go north on the A483/ Carmarthen Road towards the M4. At Junction 45 take the first left onto the A48 towards Gorseinon. At the next roundabout turn right onto the A 48/Pontarddulais Road towards Tircoed and Pontlliw. Continue through Pontlliw towards Pontarddulais. Once in Pontarddulais continue straight on until you reach the traffic lights by the King Hotel. Turn left onto the B4296/ Pentre Road. Continue down Pentre Road for approximately half a mile and the entrance to the cemetery is on the left hand side.

Travelling by bus - The cemetery is near a bus route with a stop just past the cemetery; an hourly service runs from Swansea Quadrant Bus Station to Pontarddulais and Llanelli.

Travelling by train - The nearest mainline station is Swansea High Street Station.  Buses and taxis can be found at the front of the station. Rhydgoch Cemetery is approximately 30 minutes drive from Swansea. There is also a local train station at Pontarddulais. Buses leave from near the station and Rhydgoch Cemetery is approximately 5 minutes drive from Pontarddulais.
