Recycling centres

Find out all you need to know about our recycling centres including what can be recycled, centre rules, vehicles permitted, permits and locations.

All of our centres are open 8.30am - 5.00pm 7 days a week (closed from 1.00pm on Christmas Eve and all day on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day).

ID checks will be undertaken - please be prepared to present proof of Swansea residency when requested.

* Black bags are for non-recyclable waste only. Any bags containing recyclable items will not be accepted with only limited sorting allowed on site.

We will be reviewing the list of materials regularly so keep checking this page for updates.

Recycling wood at Llansamlet Recycling Centre

The following types of wood are NOT accepted as they are classed as hazardous waste:

  • railway sleepers
  • waste wood from docks, block flooring, boats, carriages or trailer beds
  • waste wood treated with creosote

They should instead be disposed of at facilities that accept hazardous waste.

Van permits to use HWRCs

If you want to use a van or trailer to bring waste from your own home to a recycling centre you need to have a permit.
