Sunday 1st to Tuesday 31st May - Clyne in Bloom

Various times on each Sunday in May.

An annual celebration of the award-winning rhododendrons and azaleas of Clyne Gardens when they are in full bloom and at their most magnificent with a programme of guided walks, workshops, family activities and live musical performances. Clyne Gardens is open to the public from dawn till dusk. Entry to gardens and all Clyne in Bloom activities are free but advance booking is required for some activities. For details visit

Sun 1 May -International Dawn Chorus Day

4.30am-6.00am, at the Babell graveyard entrance by 119 Middle Road, Cwmbwrla, Swansea SA5 8HQ

Join us and listen to one of nature's most breath-taking phenomena, the dawn chorus when of birds sing at the crack of dawn to defend their territories and attract a mate for the breeding season.

Sun 1st May -Dawn Chorus Walk at WWT

Friendly expert guidance to help you take in the huge variety of birdsong that provides the immersive wetland soundscape at this time of year. To celebrate International Dawn Chorus Day, join us for a very special 'early bird' event to help you learn to identify the superstar soloists of a wetland morning in May. Tickets cost £8 per person. Booking in advance is essential, as numbers are limited. To book, please call and we'll take payment over the phone. Please note that admission is not included in this special event ticket price, and the centre will not open until 9.30am, as normal.

Sat May 7th - Crymlyn Burrows Bioblitz

All day event, Swansea University Bay Campus

Crymlyn Burrows is one of the last remaining pockets of wilderness around Swansea Bay, join us in trying to discover as much wildlife as we can in 24 hours. There will be a range of wildlife walks, bug hunts, strandline safaris etc throughout the day. Explore the site and let us know what you have seen - there will be experts and guides on hand to help. Sat 7th May -Babell Graveyard Volunteer Morning

10.00am-12noon, at the graveyard entrance by 119 Middle Road, Cwmbwrla, Swansea SA5 8HQ

Help create a space for nature and people in the heart of Cwmbwrla at this much-neglected graveyard. Get some fresh air and great exercise, meet new people, find out more about the local history and the nature on your doorstep. Tasks include cutting and digging up brambles, litter picking and developing a garden area. Tools and gloves are provided but wear old clothes and sensible shoes and perhaps bring a drink and a biscuit for a break.

Sat 7th May -Cwm Dulais Walk with Swansea Ramblers

11.00am, Brynbach Common, on mountain road between Felindre and Pontarddulais (at a 6-way junction)

A beautiful 5-mile moderate circular walk around the hills of the upper reaches of the magnificent Dulais Valley near Pontarddulais. Registered Assistance Dogs only. Social distancing and NHS Track and Trace in force so please send your name and contact details to the walk leader.

Come and join our free bioblitz event, exploring the beauties of Cadle Heath. Wildflower expert Barry Stewart will be leading guided walks and surveys (10am and 1pm), and recorders from SEWBReC will be on hand to help identify and record species. Sat 14th May - Dunvant & Cwmllwyd Nature Reserve Walk

11.00am, car park by cycle path, Dunvant SA2 7TB

Join Swansea Ramblers to explore the hidden countryside near Waunarlwydd and Dunvant on this 6-mile moderate walk. Initially, it will start by following a stetch of The Gower Way then go under the cycle path to find some lovely views on the way to Cwmllwyd Nature Reserve. There is a shallow stream to cross to enter the reserve so please wear boots. Dogs must remain on short leads.
