Local well-being plan 2023-28

Working together to improve well-being in Swansea.

In Swansea, we believe in the rights of every person.

Through this plan,  Working together to improve well-being in Swansea (PDF) [5MB] our vision is to work together to make Swansea a place which is prosperous, where our natural environment is appreciated and sustained, and where every person can have the best start in life, get a good job, live well, age well, have access to cultural opportunities and have every opportunity to be healthy, happy, safe and the best they can be.

Using information from the Assessment of local well-being 2022 and listening to people, tells us Swansea is a great place to live but we need to work harder together to make sure everyone can live well, benefit from and be proud of Swansea.

We want to build on successes to date so have updated our existing long-term objectives. This strategic continuity will help us focus on the joint action needed to make the most difference to individuals' lives and where working together will make the biggest difference to improve Swansea's well-being.

1.  Early years - To ensure that children have the best start in life to be the best they can be.

2.  Live well, age well - To make Swansea a great place to live at every stage of life.

3.  Climate Change and Nature Recovery- To restore and enhance biodiversity, tackle the causes, and reduce the impact of climate change

4.  Strong communities - To build cohesive and resilient communities with a sense of pride and belonging.

How the plan was written

Swansea's local well-being plan was developed by listening to people and using evidence from our assessment of local well-being. Please read our  Local Well-being Plan Consultation Response document (Word doc) [2MB] to find out more about how we asked citizens, service users, experts, staff, managers, children and leaders etc., for their help. This also summarises what they said and how we responded and used these comments and ideas to build a better plan.
