Journalists at council corporate events and elections

Journalists who want to attend Council corporate events or Election Counts must be from accredited media organisations that are part of the UK Press Card Authority or hold a press card from the UKPCA.

Depending on available space at the venue, there may also be restrictions on the number of journalists permitted to attend an election count or corporate event. You must check with the relevant elections or media team in advance of attending.

It should be noted that for election purposes journalists accredited by the UKPCA will also need to comply with any further arrangements which may be necessary to make at the time, including compliance with timescales for applying for passes.

There is more information about the UKPCA here: www.ukpresscardauthority.co.uk

Note: Members of the public can only be permitted to attend an election count if appointed as guest by a candidate, or by invitation from the Returning Officer.
