Football

There are loads of opportunities to take up football in Swansea. Check out where you can play in our table below, plus we have Futsal and walking football available.

Futsal

Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced small sided football game that is widely played across the world and is officially recognised by both UEFA and FIFA.

For young players Futsal is an excellent development tool as players are provided with a large number of opportunities to be in possession of the ball to practice techniques and skills. Whilst the game is different to 11 a side football many of the benefits of Futsal are transferable to the 11 a side game most notably making decisions under pressure, the principles of attack and defence which makes the game a very useful development tool.

Many of the top world class footballers played Futsal in their youth and credit it with supporting their footballing development; players of the calibre of Pele, Zico, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Lionel Messi to name but a few of the South American legends all played and enjoyed Futsal. But Futsal has not just helped produce South American football stars, on the European stage Cristiano Ronaldo, Deco, Xavi, Fabregas amongst many others have played Futsal to develop their skills.

Walking football

If you thought your footballing days were over, think again! Walking football, a slow-paced version of the beautiful game aimed at the over 50s has arrived in Bishopston Sports Centre. Walking football is designed to help people keep an active lifestyle despite their age, as well as getting those back playing football who had to top due to injuries. As the name suggests, walking football is non-contact and anyone that sprints, runs or jogs whilst the ball is in play will be penalised with a free-kick awarded to the other team.
