Christmas recycling

How to recycle your Christmas waste.

Wrapping paper

  • Yes please: If it tears easily and stays in a ball after scrunching then it is recyclable and can go in your green bag with paper and card. Before placing inside make sure to remove any sticky tape and decorations such as ribbons and bows first.
  • No thanks: If it is difficult to tear and pops back open after scrunching or contains a large amount of glitter and foil it cannot be recycled. Place this type in your black bags only.

Christmas cards

Plain Christmas cards can be recycled in your green bags with paper and card as long as any non-paper parts are removed first. We cannot recycle any cards with glitter or non-paper embellishments so please place these in your black bags only.

Food waste

Food waste including turkey carcasses, plate scrapings, vegetable peelings and more can all be recycled in the food waste bin.

Black bags

The 3 black bag limit remains in place over the Christmas period. Excess black bags can be disposed of at Llansamlet and Clyne recycling centres as long as there are no recyclable materials inside. Remember to book ahead before visiting Llansamlet.

Real Christmas trees

Please remember that there are currently no garden waste collections.
