The Kingsway
We've transformed The Kingsway in the city centre with new public areas, landscaped parkland, cycle routes and two-way single lane vehicle route alongside wide pedestrian walkways.
The Kingsway has been transformed into an attractive environment for people to live, work and visit.
As part of the project, The Kingsway and Orchard Street have a new two-lane road, with one lane running in each direction.
The space gained from the reduction in the previous roadway width means more public space. This means improved pedestrian and cycling routes, green landscaping, and a new "pocket" park at The Kingsway Circle. Two-way traffic has returned to Mansel Street, De La Beche Street, Grove Place, Alexandra Road and Belle Vue Way.
The improvements will lead to the creation of jobs within a Kingsway digital village at 71 and 72 The Kingsway, featuring incubation spaces for start-up/small businesses working in the ICT, tech and creative industry sectors.
The scheme was part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government.
