Further information

We currently have a vacancy for an Independent Living Co-ordinator within the Independent Living Team (Direct Payment Team). The work involves supporting new and existing direct payment recipients with setting up new direct payment packages as well as providing on-going support with managing their direct payment appropriately whilst promoting independence, choice and control. This vacancy will be permanent.

With the new Social Services and Wellbeing Act comes an even stronger emphasis on choice, control and flexibility, putting the person in the centre of their support planning. As a result, we are seeing direct payments being used much more, simply because of the flexibility and control they provide people.
The Independent Living Team work directly with clients to facilitate choice, voice and control, promoting maximum independence and improved wellbeing in planning individual care. In doing so, we support individuals with setting up a direct payment package and finding the support which is right for them.

With a growing population of direct payment recipients, we need someone motivated who will help promote the use of direct payments throughout social services and the wider community as well as providing on-going support to individuals and social work staff. This will include providing impartial advice, guidance and support to new direct payment recipients as well as providing on-going support to existing ones.

You will be an enthusiastic and a creative thinker who is able to work in innovative ways, providing good ideas around advertising and marketing, supporting people in recruitment and finding the right care for them.

We are looking for someone who is organised, with strong IT knowledge as well as excellent communication skills, who can work sensitively with individuals, social workers, external providers and partner organisations.
