Help is at hand to get elderly or isolated online

Help is at hand for anyone needing to learn how to carry out day-to-day tasks online.

From beginners who need help to shop online, to someone who wants to download an app to keep in touch with family, Swansea Council's Lifelong Learning Service can talk them through it.

It is one of a number of ways the service is responding to life during the coronavirus pandemic.

During lockdown tutors have been keeping in touch with learners via phone and email.

Short teaching videos, group chats and downloadable materials are being prepared for free courses during the summer term.

Cllr Alyson Pugh, Cabinet Member for Better Communities, said: "Many people are having to self-isolate and some who have never used the internet to carry out day to day tasks before will find themselves needing to do so for the first time.

"Our tutors are on hand to offer support and talk them through the process in a relaxed and friendly way so that they are able to make the most of the internet while restricted to their homes."

You can call Lifelong Learning on 01792 637101 between 9am - 4.30pm weekdays and we can arrange for one of the team to call you back and talk you through it.

Or you can fill out a form online for yourself or a friend or relative and the team will call you back:
