Domestic abuse help is at hand

Anyone at risk of domestic abuse during the current Coronavirus restrictions are being reassured that help is at hand.

With couples and families self-isolating at this present time there are concerns incidents of domestic violence will rise.

Swansea Council's Domestic Abuse Hub and Independent Domestic Violence Advisors continue to operate, providing safety advice and emotional support to those currently at risk, although the Domestic Abuse One Stop Shop is currently closed to the public.

Other agencies are also operating including Swansea Women's Aid, BAWSO and Hafan Cymru.

Cllr Alyson Pugh, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Better Communities, said: "The social isolation restrictions are in place to save lives and protect the NHS during the current Coronavirus pandemic.

"But we are only too aware that not every home is a safe one and during this periods there is a heightened risk of domestic abuse.

"If anyone is experiencing domestic violence or is at risk then help is here.

"Swansea Council is continuing to provide critical services to our residents when they need them most."
