Shops in Swansea help recycling effort

Swansea Council has increased the number of local stores where residents can collect recycling bags.

The increase is to assist residents with managing their household waste following the closure of district housing offices and libraries - who normally stock recycling supplies.

Mark Thomas, Cabinet Member for Environment and Infrastructure Management said: "We recognise that many residents rely on collecting bags from libraries and district housing offices. These are now shut because of the restriction linked to the coronavirus.

"This has prompted us to look at expanding the number of local shops in the city who could help with stocking supplies of recycling bags.

"In the first instance we would still urge residents to use the tag system so our collection crews can leave bags at their door. If they are unable to do this then residents can pick some up at their local store when shopping for essential goods."
