Reduced taxi fares for council social care and NHS workers

Local taxi firms have contacted Swansea Council to let them know they are offering reduced taxi fares for council social care workers and NHS staff in the city.

The cab companies (Data Cabs, Yellow Cabs and New Fforest Cabs) lowering their fares have confirmed they will be assisting the city's key workers financially, helping to plug the gaps where bus services are not provided.

Penny Matthews, Chair of Licensing at Swansea Council, said: "This is again a great example of local businesses going the extra mile to help key workers such as some of our own social care workers and NHS staff to get to and from their vital jobs.

"Bus companies have already stepped up by providing free transport on services they are operating.

"This gesture by local taxi companies will help complement local bus services and ensure key workers can travel where they are needed. There may also be other taxi companies offering this sort of gesture in Swansea, although we have not been made aware of these. We would advise that any key workers using taxis should check with their local firm."
