Street food among the treats at city open market

A continental street market is set to bring the flavours of the world to Swansea this week.

The open market will sweep into the city centre this Wednesday and will remain until Saturday (April 10-13).

It will bring a host of products and gastronomic delights such as quirky craft items, authentic paella, baklava and Chinese street food.

Swansea Council and specialist markets operator RR Events are behind the Continental Street Market. Traders will be on Oxford Street from 10am- 6pm each day.

Robert Francis-Davies, the council's cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, said: "We're looking forward to welcoming the Continental Street Market to Swansea.

"The event will add vibrancy to the city centre. It will complement the fantastic offer that's available in our indoor market, shops, restaurants and other businesses.

"There'll be everything from handicrafts to hot food and the traders will display the best products that their countries have to offer.

"The market will be a lovely way to usher in the Easter holidays and another way in which to help us all celebrate the 50th anniversary of Swansea becoming a city."
