Pete Tong brings Ibiza classics to Singleton Park in July

Pete Tong and the Heritage Orchestra, conducted by Jules Buckley, will bring a new Ibiza Classics show to the beautiful surroundings of Singleton Park on Saturday, July 27.

Tickets will go on sale from 10am Friday, March 8, through, 0844 844 0444 and locally through Derricks Records.

The event returns to Wales after last year's Cardiff Castle show which sold out within the first eight hours. It will be a brand new show for 2019 with re-workings of iconic dance anthems.

The show is a must see for ravers, party animals and everyone who ever saw Ibiza as their Mecca, an irresistible combination of the UK's most influential DJ with a 65-piece orchestra, a spectacular visual show with lasers and the biggest party anthems.

Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, said: "Pete Tong's event in Singleton Park this July is evidence that the location - and Swansea as a whole - is a great place for cultural excitement.

"Already we have Stereophonics and Jess Glynne coming to the park this summer on the back of last year's incredible success with the BBC's Biggest Weekend.

"Add to that the Wales Airshow, Swansea Half Marathon, other events yet to be announced and our annual programme of events, and Swansea is laying out its claim that it is the place to be this summer. We are Wales' capital of culture and we're proud that all these wonderful events are being staged here."

The Ibiza Classics concept first came to fruition after a lot of hard work and careful curation at the massively successful BBC Proms show at the Royal Albert Hall three years ago.

Pete Tong's collaboration with the Heritage Orchestra, conducted by Jules Buckley, went on to play arenas around the world, including the Hollywood Bowl. It sold out two nights at the O2 and spawned the album Classic House - which sold over 200,000 copies and reached number one in the UK - and the follow-up Pete Tong Ibiza Classics which has so far amassed over 120,000 sales.

The show is once again being promoted by current Live UK regional promoter of year and three time winners Orchard Live.

Director Pablo Janczur said: "We absolutely loved the spectacle last year at Cardiff Castle and we can't wait to bring the brand new show to Swansea this summer for another unforgettable event in Wales. It is sure to evoke memories of Escape to the Park which was a massive Swansea institution."

The event follows on from the previously announced Jess Glynne show which will take place the next night, Sunday, July 28.

Pete Tong has been a massively influential figure in dance music over the past 20 years, predominantly as the voice of Radio 1's prestigious dance programming.

The Essential Mix continues to be the standard bearer of mix shows, and his Essential Selection is still the influential place to premiere new records.

All Gone Pete Tong is a residency brand and cult classic film, as well, of course, as being widely used in rhyming slang.
