They will occur, weather permitting, on The Kingsway, Orchard Street and Christina Street.

Only one carefully managed stretch will be closed at any one time. Diversion signs will be in place.

First Cymru will operate slightly revised bus routes.

The temporary closures will take place from this Monday 6.30pm-6am and from Tue-Sat (Oct 30-Nov 3) at the same times.

The schedule includes: Thursday night - surfacing to Orchard Street, road closure Orchard St; Friday  - surfacing to Kingsway, road closure Kingsway and Christina St. Saturday night - surfacing Kingsway North/Christina St junction, road closure Kingsway and Christina St.

During the week's work there will be occasional lack of vehicle access to Union Street, Portland Street and Pell Street.

Mark Thomas, Swansea Council's cabinet member for environment and infrastructure management, said: "We thank motorists for their understanding

"The work involves our contractors laying new road surfaces and painting new road markings.

"It will help us deliver the £12m Kingsway Infrastructure Scheme which will create a new people-friendly urban park with improved accessibility.

"The new-look Kingsway will feature new public areas, landscaped parkland, cycle access, a two-way vehicle route and wider pedestrian walkways.

"Next week's work will ensure that, from November 18 to January 6, The Kingsway will be an obstacle-free route to and from our wonderful local shops and business. Orchard Street will also have far fewer obstacles.

"The city centre will be as accessible as possible over Christmas. A key boost for shoppers and traders is that this Christmas - from November 19 Monday to Saturday - we're offering free parking for motorists who enter the St David's Multi-Storey Car Park after 3pm."
