Free event to help older people stay active

A free event is taking place in Swansea to showcase a wide range of activities that will help older people stay physically and mentally active.

Whether people fancy giving yoga a try or are interested in learning basic computer skills then experts will be on hand to help.

Staff from Swansea Council's Library Service will be there to hand out leaflets and freebies and offer one to one interactive sessions showing off resources such as e-books, audiobooks and e-magazines.

Other charities and community organisations will be taking part.

The event, organised by Ageing Well Swansea, takes place at the National Waterfront Museum between 10am and 2pm on October 1.

It coincides with the International Day of Older Persons.

Cllr Mark Child, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Care, Health and Wellbeing said: "In Swansea we are fortunate that there are many varied activities to take part in, clubs or groups to join and community facilities such as libraries and community centres with lots going on.

"If you or someone you know is looking for activities where you can meet new people and learn or rekindle new skills and interests then it really is worth popping along."
