School admissions - equal preferences

The council invites parents and carers to submit three preferences on their application form.

Applications made in accordance with the council's arrangements will be met except where this would prejudice efficient education or the efficient use of resources, ie. where the year group in question is full.

All preferences will be considered on the basis of equal preferences. This means that all your preferences will initially be considered without reference to your preference ranking. If potentially you can be offered a place at more than one of your preferences (ie. because a preferred school is under subscribed or because you have a high enough priority for an oversubscribed school within the published over subscription criteria, or because the school receives the same number of applications as the number of places available) the single offer will be for the school you ranked the highest on your application form and all lower ranked preferences will be withdrawn.
