Updates - Storm Darragh

This is our regularly updated article on the impact of Storm Darragh in Swansea.

Power Cuts

If you are affected by continuing power cuts in the Swansea area, don't forget you can access our network of Swansea Spaces. These are warm and welcome places where people can access refreshments, charge mobile devices and socialise. You can find the directory here and please let relatives and neighbours know if they may benefit: https://www.swansea.gov.uk/swanseaspaces

Ty Newydd (next to Gorseinon Library) will be open today between 10am and 4pm for hot refreshments, access to charge mobile devises and an opportunity to speak with fellow residents. Canolfan y Bont in Pontarddulais is also open today. Our friends at Freedom Leisure have said that Penyrheol Leisure Centre, Bishopston Sports Centre and The LC are happy to welcome anyone who needs support, a warm space, wi-fi or somewhere to work from.

Please check in with any vulnerable neighbours who may need help, especially if they are still experiencing power cuts. If you think the council can help, contact your Local Area Co-ordinator: https://www.swansea.gov.uk/localareacoordination

Fallen Trees

Our teams have continued to work day and night through the weekend to deal with as many fallen trees and other issues as we can. We are prioritising roads and access to essential services. We are aware of fallen trees in parks, cemeteries and on cycle routes. Please continue to bear with us as we will get to them as soon as we can. In some cases this may take a number of days, due to our teams' heavy workload.

If you want to report a problem due to Storm Darragh, please email highways@swansea.gov.uk
