Adopt a bench - donated seats
Details of the donated seats available.
Unfortunately, we have had to temporarily suspend new applications for adopting existing benches due to a backlog of orders. The application process will be reinstated as soon as possible but, at present, we cannot provide a specific date. Applications for donating new benches will remain open during this time. Thank you for your patience.
We can provide sturdy traditional, all wood or modern recycled plastic seats with your personal message attached on a plaque.
Wherever possible, sustainable benches made by Swansea Council's Waste Wood project team using waste wood from Swansea's parks and green spaces will be provided. Whilst the benches are made to a set design, each is unique but all are heavyweight timber seats of elegant design.
In certain circumstances one of the below bench styles will be required due to other benches already in place in particular areas.
Bespoke benches
A heavyweight timber seat of elegant design, made to order in Swansea using local sustainable wood.
Grafton seat
A contemporary style seat with a cast iron frame and hard wood slats and seafront protected coating on frame. The substantial frame and heavy wooden slats make this seat suitable for heavy usage areas. This style is most prevalent in foreshore locations such as Swansea Promenade.
Recycled plastic seat
A heavy-duty robust seat manufactured entirely from 100% recycled materials from post industrial and post consumers plastics, are weather resistant and virtually maintenance free and available in brown or green.
Harlech seat
This is a popular cost effective seat, which is immensely strong and resistant to vandalism.
Brompton Seat
A heavy weight timber seat in a traditional design intended for use in the Singleton Park Botanical Gardens and Clyne Gardens only. The 16mm thick back slats reduces vandalism without spoiling the inherent elegance of this design.
