A series of drop-in events have been organised for Swansea to give local people the chance to have their say on the future of transport in South West Wales.

Taking place in communities across the city, the events will enable feedback in person on a draft regional transport plan that's been developed for Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot and Pembrokeshire.

The draft regional transport plan is aimed at creating a more reliable, connected and accessible transport network that's affordable and convenient.

With online feedback also available at www.cjcsouthwest.wales/2025consultation until midnight on Sunday April 6, the plan will help support the delivery of a rail and bus metro system in South West Wales.

The venues, dates and times of the Swansea drop-in events are:

  • Thursday February 20 from 3pm to 7pm - Reynoldston Village Hall, Reynoldston
  • Tuesday February 25 from 2pm to 6pm - Gorseinon Library
  • Friday February 28 from noon to 5.30pm - Mumbles Ostreme Centre
  • Wednesday March 5 from 10am to 4pm - Swansea Market
  • Monday March 10 from 2pm to 6pm - Penlan Leisure Centre
  • Wednesday March 12 from 11am to 3pm - The Phoenix Centre in Townhill
  • Thursday March 13 from 3.30pm to 7.30pm - Morriston Leisure Centre

Cllr Andrew Stevens, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Environment and Infrastructure, said: "Whether it's walking, wheeling, cycling, taking the bus, catching a train or driving, transport is something that affects everyone in South West Wales.

"This is why your views are wanted to help shape a regional transport plan that includes Swansea.

"Hundreds of online responses have already been submitted but we're mindful that many people would prefer to talk about the plan and give their feedback in person.

"The events taking place throughout Swansea will help cater for that demand, with similar events soon due to be announced in other parts of South West Wales too."

The draft regional transport plan comes in advance of the Welsh Government's Bus Bill, which is aimed at improving bus services in Wales by either placing them under greater local authority control or by enabling local authorities to run the services.

It also includes initiatives and projects proposed for implementation between 2025 and 2030.

Once feedback has been considered, the plan will go to the Corporate Joint Committee for South West Wales for approval.

The Corporate Joint Committee for South West Wales is made up of the Leaders of Swansea Council, Carmarthenshire Council, Neath Port Talbot Council and Pembrokeshire Council, as well as senior representatives of the Brecon Beacons and Pembrokeshire National Park Authorities.
