Thousands to take on IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea

More than 2,500 athletes will head to Swansea for IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea, due to take place on Sunday, July 13.

The event has just sold out of general entries. 

Athletes from all over the world are set to race, with many competing on home soil. 

More than three in four of the field are set to take on IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea for the first time. 

The day will also see the IRONMAN Pro Series take place in the UK for the first time as the world's best professional triathletes compete. 

Athletes will tackle a 1.2-mile swim at the Prince of Wales Dock, a 56-mile bike course through Mumbles and Gower, and a two-loop 13.1-mile run from the city to Mumbles and back. 

Race director Rebecca Sutherland said: "We're thrilled to have once again sold-out general entries for IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea. It's a testament to not only the race, but the incredible host city of Swansea."

Swansea Council cabinet member Robert Francis Davies said: "It's exciting that the event has been upgraded to the prestigious IRONMAN Pro Series. It'll bring even greater international attention to our city."
