ROCK legends Status Quo have announced they will perform a major outdoor concert in Swansea this year as part of a new August Bank Holiday music weekend in Singleton Park.

The band will make the journey west to play to thousands of fans at Singleton Park on Saturday August 25.

Status Quo have had more hit singles than any other band, more hit albums than The Beatles and more appearances on Top of the Pops than any other artist.

The iconic five-piece band has sold over 188 million records and scored 22 top ten hits.

They will perform many of their rock classics including Rockin' All over the World as well as a few songs from their latest and 29th studio album, Quid Pro Quo.

Band member Francis Rossi said: "We're really excited to be performing back in Swansea after so long. Nothing beats playing live at a big outdoor summer event. We will put on a great show to rock Swansea on Saturday August 25."

Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: "We're delighted to be welcoming rock legends Status Quo to Swansea. The city and Singleton Park in particular has a proven track record of hosting successful events such as BBC Proms in the Park. This event will be a great addition to the Swansea Bay Festival Summer Programme which is already starting to fill up with a range of exciting events taking place across the city.

"Not only will the event attract music-goers from Swansea but it will also appeal to visitors from further afield - many of whom will hopefully combine the concert with a short break in the Swansea Bay area."

Tickets for the concert are priced at £35.00. A limited number of Early Bird tickets will go on sale priced at only £30 on Sunday February 12 at 10am from Derricks Music in Swansea and online at www.ticketlineuk.com

People can also call 02920 230 130 for tickets.
