Planning Policy & Development Plans![]() Within Planning Policy and Development Plans you can download the adopted Unitary Development Plan, supporting Supplementary Planning Guidance and other appropriate planning documents, plus get information on the Local Development Plan process.The Planning Policy Team is responsible for the preparation of the Council's Development Plan, and is also engaged on a range of other strategic planning studies, area development briefs and other forward planning projects. The team provides guidance to developers, their agents and other relevant individuals/organisations on development potential, and also advises on emerging legislation, statutory procedures and relevant planning policies at the national, regional and local level. The City and County of Swansea Unitary Development Plan (UDP) was adopted on 10th November 2008. It is the most up to date Development Plan covering the authorities' administrative area and is used in the determination of planning applications. The UDP sets out a range of policies and proposals relating to future development, and deals with the use and conservation of land and buildings within the City & County up to 2016.
The Unitary Development Plan (UDP) is to be replaced within the next few years by a new form of Development Plan for Swansea known as the Local Development Plan (LDP). This page contains links to the key stages of the LDP process and provides an update on latest news.
Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) augments and supports the policies and proposals set out in the Council's Development Plan. This page provides links to adopted SPG and also provides information on SPG currently being prepared.
