Bookstart

Bookstart is a national scheme that encourages parents to share and enjoy books with their children from as early age as possible.

We aim to provide a free pack of books to every baby and toddler in the UK, to inspire, stimulate and create a love of reading that will give all children a real flying start in life. But most of all, we want to show that books are fun!

Who are the Bookstart packs for?

The packs are available for everyone. A baby pack is gifted to all babies at around 6 to 9 months and an early years pack to all toddlers at around two years old. Packs are gifted by Health Visitors.

What should I do if my child hasn't received a pack?

If you haven't received a pack for your child please contact your Health Visitor or your local library

We would like to hear what you think about the Bookstart pack you receive

Please visit Bookstart Wales SurveyOpens new window to answer a short survey about Bookstart. If you do not have access to the internet at home you can go online for free at your local library.

The first 1000 people that complete the survey will be sent a free book to say thank you. You must be a resident in Wales to receive a free book and only one person in your family should complete the survey.
