Glynn Vivian conservation
Our Conservation team care for all the artworks in the Collection, with a special focus at present on Richard Glynn Vivian's original bequest, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The redevelopment has offered us a unique opportunity to examine the Gallery collection more closely, and conservation of the Glynn Vivian bequest is now being carried out by our Conservation and Collections Officer, Carol Lyons, at Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales in preparation for our reopening.
Our technical team is also engaged in improving our future storage systems for Works on Paper, to improve access to our collection. Technical Officer Ray Davies will be working with hundreds of works on paper, under the supervision of accredited conservator, Kate Newton, and as part of our Investors in People training programme, supported by a grant from CyMAL, Ray has recently been awarded a much deserved Diploma in Cultural Heritage (Conservation) by EDI, for his work on this project.
Following the refurbishment, the team will work within our new conservation studios at the gallery and we look forward to you joining us on our journey as we peel back the layers and uncover the story of Glynn Vivian's legacy.
We are deeply grateful to the conservation team at Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales for welcoming us into their studio during the closure and to the Heritage Lottery Fund for their generous support.
