Entries are now open for the awards, which are being run by Swansea Council in partnership with Tourism Swansea Bay.

Other categories include best hotel, best wedding experience, best tourism ambassador, and best restaurant and bistro.

With entries due by Friday September 8, the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in the Brangwyn Hall on Thursday November 9.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Major Projects, said: "Our tourism businesses make a significant contribution to an industry that's worth over £400 million a year to Swansea's economy, so they thoroughly deserve to be recognised.

"From our hotels, bed and breakfasts and self-catering properties to our activity providers, pubs and restaurants, the quality of our tourism businesses helps raise Swansea Bay's profile as a visitor destination that attracts millions of people from across the world every year.

"This is why we continuously work in close partnership with our local businesses and organisations like Tourism Swansea Bay to ensure we keep on meeting the needs and aspirations of visitors who come here.

"With a tourism campaign ongoing to promote Swansea Bay as a destination for legendary adventures, it's fitting that we're about to celebrate our very own legends - our thriving tourism businesses that make Swansea Bay such a great place to visit and spend time."

Stephen Crocker, Chairman of Tourism Swansea Bay, said: "Our partnership with Swansea Council, which goes back many years, is now stronger than ever. The strength of this co-ordinated working has led to a joint organisation of the Swansea Bay 2017 Tourism Awards, which look to celebrate the quality of the local tourism, leisure and hospitality sector that we both work so closely alongside to continue improving the visitor experience here.

"It's important that these businesses, who often go the extra mile, are recognised for their excellence."

The awards are made up of 17 categories in total, with others including best pub or bar, best café or tea room, best caravan and campsite, and best festival or event. Businesses can be nominated in more than one category.
