Swansea's best assets celebrated in events programmeCHILDREN and families will get the chance to become a farmer for the day or go hunting for the first signs of Spring as part of the latest programme of environmental events. ![]() Swansea Council has compiled a fun-packed list of events taking place between now and June. The events also include seashore safaris, bird watching, the chance to learn all about bee-keeping and guided walks through some of the city's beauty spots. The Environmental Events programme provides full listings of unique one-off events organised by the Council or by local organisations such as the Environment Centre. The programme also gives details of the eight local craft and produce markets which are held regularly throughout Swansea. Jo Mullett from Swansea Council's Nature Conservation Team said: "Swansea is a really diverse and interesting city with lots of places to visit. "To help make the most of what we have, a list of events and activities has been compiled that celebrates all the amazing and special nature reserves, green spaces and groups and organisations who help look after them to keep them special." The events list also includes special talks and presentations on the city's biodiversity and the essential work of conserving the wildlife and nature on our doorstep. Jo added: "Swansea has an interesting and varied landscape made up of many of Welsh priority habitats including woodlands, coastal cliffs, sand dunes and many other important green spaces such as urban parks, farmland and even street trees. All of this helps to create important havens for wildlife such as birds, mammals and insects. "The programme is varied so that every one, young or old and novice or expert, has the chance to learn about Swansea's natural environment and give them ideas, opportunities and tips about helping to preserve it." The Environmental Events programme is available throughout Swansea including Civic Centre, Swansea Library and the Environment Centre. It's also available online at www.swansea.gov.uk/environmentalevents
