What is Cricket?

Cricket is a team sport played by 2 teams. It is a bat and ball game played on a cricket pitch. The pitch is usually oval and is made up of a rectangular section in the middle of the pitch with a set of wickets at each end of the rectangle.

One team bats whilst the other team bowls. The aim of the batting team is to hit the ball and make as many runs (between the two sets of wickets) as possible. The aim of the bowling team is to try and dismiss the batting team.
